About Jim Braswell

Jim Braswell was born and raised in Pasadena, Maryland. He is a graduate of nationally ranked Washington & Lee University School of Law, and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2005. While at Washington & Lee, Jim was a staff writer for the Environmental Law Digest, a member of The Federalist Society, and member of the W&L Law Rugby team. He received his bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University in 2001.

"I never envisioned myself going to law school. I always thought I would follow my father's example and own a small business."

Following law school, Jim served as law clerk to Judge Paul F. Harris, Jr. of the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court before opening his own law firm in Glen Burnie.

James decided to run for the Anne Arundel County Council because

"Most modern politicians care more about their position of power than the people they serve. They do not encourage community involvement nor are they active in their local communities. I hope to serve the people of the Third District as a representative of our community values, much in the same was Councilman Ron Dillon has so honorably served."

Jim is also a member of several local organizations:

  • Northern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce
  • Pasadena Business Association
  • Anne Arundel County Bar Association
  • American Health Lawyers Association.
  • Young Entrepreneurs and Professionals Club. (Founder and Vice-President)
  • The Federalist Society
  • North County Republican Club
  • Anne Arundel Young Republicans
